I found you nonetheless

I was once a sad boy who would tear apart his skin to feel something.

I was once a sad boy who looked in the mirror

I was once a sad boy who couldn’t fathom living in his own body.

I was once a sad boy who cried himself to sleep many nights in a row.

I was once a sad boy who thought he couldn’t be loved.

I was once a sad boy who felt alone with his friends.

I was once a sad boy who was scared of the future because it looked so grim.

I was once a sad boy who missed the idea of being happy.

I was once a sad boy who always faked his smiles.

I was once a sad boy who always said he was fine.

I was once a sad boy who thought there was something wrong with him.

I was once a sad boy for whom living felt too painful to continue.

Yet, that sad boy I am no longer. I still remember him. He is still within me.

It all made no sense up until the point that it did.

It makes sense with you.

I was once a sad boy, and I found you nonetheless.
